IMO Heeds Call Of The Philippines to Include Seafarers in the Organization's Decarbonization Goals
The 80th Session of the International Maritime Organization´s (IMO) Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) met from 3 - 7 July 2023 in London to adopt a Revised Strategy on the Reductions of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from ships.
Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the IMO, Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. successfully advocated for the inclusion of the protection of seafarers in the Revised Strategy. He stressed that seafarers are also key to the success of the Organization´s decarbonization goals. He said that seafarers have a vital role in adopting and carrying out sustainable shipping practices, and should not be forgotten, as the shipping industry transitions to a green economy.
Philippine Ambassador Attends Tynwald Day 2023 in the Isle of Man
Isle of Man, 5 July – Ambassador Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. attended Tynwald Day 2023, the Isle of Man’s National Day celebrations, as an honoured guest at the invitation of The Hon Laurence Skelly MLC, President of Tynwald.
Tynwald, the Parliament of the Isle of Man, dates from at least AD 979 and is said to be the oldest continuously existing ruling body in the world.

Ambassador and Mrs Teodoro Locsin, Jr., Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General Rhenita Rodriguez, Vice Consul Beatriz Alexandra Martinez and Labor Attaché Amuerfina Reyes join the Filipino community on the Isle of Man in celebrating Tynwald Day.

Ambassador Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. Visits the Isle of Man
Ambassador and Madame Locsin throw stones on the cairn at Cooil y Ree Gardens in the Isle of Man. The Gardens were officially opened by the late Sir Charles Kerruish as a Millennium Project on 5 July 2001. It is intended that over the years the cairn should grow in size as both residents and visitors to the Island add their own stones to mark their visit.
