Philippine Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, with concurrent jurisdiction on Ireland                                            

His Excellency Antonio Manuel R. Lagdameo presented his letters of credence to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in March 2017.  This is his second tour of duty as the Ambassador of the Philippines to the Court of St. James, having served in the same capacity from 2009 to 2010

A seasoned diplomat, Ambassador Lagdameo previously served as the Ambassador of the Philippines to Spain with concurrent jurisdiction over the Principality of Andorra from August 2008 to July 2009, and as the Ambassador of the Philippines to the United Mexican States, with concurrent jurisdiction over Belize, the Republic of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama from January 2007 to August 2008.

Prior to joining the Philippine Foreign Service, Ambassador Lagdameo served the Philippine Government in various capacities, chief among them was his leadership of the Philippine Racing Commission from 1994 to 1998.  He also sat at the helm of several reputable corporations and established business councils such as Carrije Cargo, Inc. where he sits as Chairman of the Board; and Carrije Holdings LTD, Inc. and House of Travel, Inc. where he sits as Chairman of the Board and vice Chairman, respectively.

Ambassador Lagdameo is a staunch advocate and supporter of Philippine arts and culture.  Under his leadership, the Philippine Embassy in London has spearheaded various programmes and initiatives aimed at positioning the Philippines as a cultural superpower and at using culture and the arts as building blocks to stronger Philippine-British relations.

The Ambassador graduated with a Pre-Med, Associate in Arts degree from the University of the Philippines in 1961 and after which proceeded to obtain a Bachelor in Arts Major in Accounting from the University of the East three years later.  He obtained his graduate degree in business administration from Ateneo de Manila University’s Graduate School of Business Administration in 1971.

Ambassador Lagdameo is happily married to Madame Maria Linda Floirendo Lagdameo with whom he has seven children.
