Isle of Man, 5 July – Ambassador Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. attended Tynwald Day 2023, the Isle of Man’s National Day celebrations, as an honoured guest at the invitation of The Hon Laurence Skelly MLC, President of Tynwald.

Tynwald, the Parliament of the Isle of Man, dates from at least AD 979 and is said to be the oldest continuously existing ruling body in the world.

The Tynwald Ceremony is a tradition which has lasted for over a thousand years with roots in the Viking customs of those who settled in the island in the tenth century. Its central feature is the promulgation and captioning of new Acts of Tynwald, which is the final stage in the Manx legislative process.
