    The Philippine Embassy, London joins the nation in celebrating National Innovation Day (NID) 2025 on 28-30 April 2025 with the theme “FLIP” Forging Leaders of Innovation in the Philippines”. This year’s NID aims to (1) inspire the youth by engaging them in an intensified “Huddle, Analyse, Build, and Innovation” thinking workshop, (2) elevate public awareness on Filipino ingenuity and creativity through the holding of National and Regional Innovation Awards or the “Filipinnovation Awards”, and (3) honour Filipino innovators of “Filipinnovators” who have made significant contributions in promoting and advancing  innovative solutions in their respective fields.

visual artist Ms. Siobhan Doran

 
The Philippine Embassy in London congratulates Irish photographer and visual artist Ms. Siobhan Doran for winning first prize in the Architecture and Design category of the Sony World Photography Awards 2024 for her series of photographs taken at the ancestral and historical mansions of Filipino sugar planters.
 
The competition organized by the World Photography Organization drew over 350,000 entries.
 
The pictures form part of a book co-authored by Doran and Gina Consing McAdam entitled Houses that Sugar Built: An Intimate Portrait of Philippine Ancestral Homes.

LONDON 15 April 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in London held an event dubbed “Kain Na!” (Let’s Eat!) at Sentro Rizal London on 11 April 2024, in a joint celebration of Filipino Food Month and National Literature Month.

The program featured the launch of the book We Cook Filipino by UK-based Filipino author Jacqueline Chio-Lauri and a cooking demonstration by Filipino chef Roni Bandong, founder of RoniB’s Kitchen, which produces artisan Filipino sauces, condiments and preserves.

In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. lauded Ms. Chio-Lauri and Chef Roni for their significant contribution to Filipino literature and Filipino food, respectively. The flavors of the Philippines were presented through Ms Chio-Lauri’s book and through the cooking demonstration of Chef Roni.

Ambassador Locsin welcomed to the Embassy UK-born Filipino chef, entrepreneur and media personality Chef Rex De Guzman, who wowed British audiences in Jamie Oliver’s TV cooking competition, The Great Cookbook Challenge. 3. It was a double celebration of Filipino Food Month and National Literature Month this April at the Philippine Embassy in London when it held its two-in-one event “Kain Na!” (Let’s Eat!) !
