    The Philippine Embassy, London joins the nation in celebrating National Innovation Day (NID) 2025 on 28-30 April 2025 with the theme “FLIP” Forging Leaders of Innovation in the Philippines”. This year’s NID aims to (1) inspire the youth by engaging them in an intensified “Huddle, Analyse, Build, and Innovation” thinking workshop, (2) elevate public awareness on Filipino ingenuity and creativity through the holding of National and Regional Innovation Awards or the “Filipinnovation Awards”, and (3) honour Filipino innovators of “Filipinnovators” who have made significant contributions in promoting and advancing  innovative solutions in their respective fields.

The Philippine Embassy in London concludes its #PurpleWednesdays activity with this last set of profiles from gender and development advocates from the community.

 #PurpleWednesdays highlights the new recurring theme from 2023 to 2028: “WE for gender equality and inclusive society”.

Ms. Jamaica Paula Belmonte is a graduating university student. She believes that a more gender-equal and gender-inclusive society can be attained through ensuring gender representation in the decision-making process, especially on matters related to education, healthcare and workplaces.

She adds that, “It should not be about how masculine or feminine a person is for a certain job. It should be about how capable a person is, regardless of their gender.”

 The Philippine Embassy in London held a seminar workshop on domestic abuse awareness on 29 March 2023 as part of its Women’s Month Activities. The seminar-workshop, held at Sentro Rizal London, was facilitated by Detective Superintendent Joe Derilo, Sergeant Charina Boys, and Police Constable Danielle Noble, officers of the London Metropolitan Police of Filipino descent. The event was attended by about fifty members of the Filipino community as well as Embassy officers and staff.

Ambassador Locsin met with Detective Superintendent Joe Derilo, Sergeant Charina Boys, and Police Constable Danielle Noble  on 29 March 2023 ahead of the Domestic Abuse Awareness Seminar-Workshop they conducted for the Filipino community later in the day. The three officers shared their experiences growing up Filipino-British in the UK, and brought up ways to bridge the gap between the Metropolitan Police and the Filipino community. The Ambassador also shared his insights on policing and how the PH and the UK police forces can forge stronger cooperation.
