LONDON—Two Philippine companies were recently recognized during the 2019 Safety at Sea Awards (SASA) in London. SASA is an annual awards ceremony aimed at honouring the hard work of people and organizations in addressing pressing issues faced by the maritime industry and in promoting a safe and secure working environment among all those who work in the said industry.

Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc (PTC) was named Maritime Employer of the Year for its unwavering commitment in maintaining excellent working practices while at the same time ensuring the safety and security of its crew.

Philippine Center Advance Simulation and Training (PHILCAMSAT), on the other hand, brought home the Best Crew Training Programme Award for the successfully implementation of his Human Element Leadership and Management Level (HELM) programme. HELM aims to equip top officers with the skills needed in responding to crisis situations.

“The recognition given to two Philippine companies for their achievements and best practices in the maritime sector attests of the Philippines’ leading role in one of the world’s most important industries,” said Ambassador Antonio M. Lagdameo. END
