London, 3 September 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in London hosted a talk on information security awareness by Filipino cyber security expert Capt. Carlos Ely Tingson last 2 September.

Capt. Tingson briefed the embassy personnel on information security and cyber security with focus on threats and risks that may affect official communication channels. He also gave practical advice on tackling information security threats by including useful illustrations on data theft and website hacking. 
 
The resource speaker also identified emerging issues in Philippine national cyber security development, such as the ratification of the Budapest Convention on Cyber Crime, e-commerce, and collective economy, among others. 
 
A member of the Presidential Security Group’s Intelligence Company, Capt. Tingson has just completed his master’s degree in information security at the Royal Holloway, University of London. He is one of the eight Filipino winners of the British Government’s Chevening Scholarship Award in 2014. END
