DanjuganFINAL

In celebration of Philippine-British Friendship week, the Philippine Embassy in London will be hosting a talk about Danjugan Island on October 20.

Led by Peter Raines (MBE), the talk will highlight the preservation efforts undertaken in Danjugan Island by the Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation (PRRCF) and the Coral Restoration Foundation International, of which Raines is part of.

Raines will emphasise the importance of “citizen-science” as part of the progress of coral reef restorations not only in the Philippines but globally as well.

The hard work that was poured into Danjugan Island by Raines and his team has led to several achievements including a nomination for the 2015 Whitley Awards as well as the IRF Life Time Achievement Award.

With the success of previous projects, Raines is proud to announce the creation of UK-based not-for-profit organisation Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Europe (PRRCE) of which he will be serving as the secretary alongside PRCCF’s Gerry Ledesma.

Food and refreshments will be served at the event.
