    The Philippine Embassy, London joins the nation in celebrating National Innovation Day (NID) 2025 on 28-30 April 2025 with the theme “FLIP” Forging Leaders of Innovation in the Philippines”. This year’s NID aims to (1) inspire the youth by engaging them in an intensified “Huddle, Analyse, Build, and Innovation” thinking workshop, (2) elevate public awareness on Filipino ingenuity and creativity through the holding of National and Regional Innovation Awards or the “Filipinnovation Awards”, and (3) honour Filipino innovators of “Filipinnovators” who have made significant contributions in promoting and advancing  innovative solutions in their respective fields.

The Balikbayan Privilege allows Former Filipino citizens (such as Filipinos who have been naturalized British or Irish citizens) and their families a visa-free stay in the Philippines for a maximum of one (1) year, regardless of the frequency of travel or visit.

A Balikbayan may be either one of the following:

i.   A Filipino citizen who has been continuously out of the Philippines for a period of at least one (1) year;

ii.  A Filipino overseas worker;

iii. A former Filipino citizen who is a naturalized foreign citizen and his/her family;

b. Immediate family members (spouse and children) of the Balikbayan, who are nationals of countries falling under EO 408, travelling together with the Balikbayan.

Requirements for former Filipino citizen:

  1. Valid passport
  2. Supporting documents to prove former Philippine citizenship:
  • Philippine Birth Certificate
  • Previous Philippine passport
  • Naturalization certificate to show former Philippine citizenship

The spouses and minor unmarried children of eligible Filipinos or former Filipino citizens must present the following documents to the Philippine Immigration Officer at the point of entry:

  1. Valid passport
  2. Marriage certificate (for the spouse)
  3. Birth Certificate (for minor children) or adoption papers (for adopted children)

Steps:

  1. Prepare your and your dependents’ documentary requirements.
  2. Upon arrival in the Philippines, request the Philippine Immigration Officer at the point of entry to grant you and your dependents Balikbayan Privilege.

Reminders:

  • The spouse and minor dependents of former Filipino citizens may enjoy Balikbayan Privilege provided that the following conditions are met:
  • That they are not required entry visas under existing regulations; and
  • They are travelling together with the balikbayan spouse / parent to the Philippines
