24 June 2019 LONDON—The Philippine Embassy through the Philippine Department of Tourism in London (PDOT-London) and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) gave London a taste of the Philippines with the country’s pioneering participation in this year’s Taste of London at Regent’s Park from 19 to 23 June 2019. Taste of London is the United Kingdom’s (UK) largest annual gastronomic event that gathers over 50,000 foodies, chefs, and culinary taste makers from the UK and all over the world.
“Through the Philippines’ participation in this year’s Taste of London, we hope to give the UK a taste of Philippine food, culture, and hospitality,” said Ambassador Antonio M. Lagdameo.
The Philippine booth at Stand H4 featured food tastings, live musical performances, jam sessions, and a chance to win a Filipino Foodie Adventure.
“Filipino culture and cuisine are steadily gaining a huge following in the UK,” said Tourism Attaché Gerard O. Panga. “The crowd’s reception towards our participation in this year’s Taste of London is an affirmation that great things are coming for Filipino food, culture, and travel.”
In addition to the Philippine booth led by PDOT-London and TPB, Mamason’s Dirty Ice Cream also participated in this year’s much-awaited foodie event. Known for its interpretation of Filipino dirty ice cream, Mamason’s set up a sari-sari store-inspired booth and served dirty ice cream and their signature bilog, a dessert made of dirty ice cream sandwiched inside a pandesal bun.
