13 September 2018 LONDON—Ambassador Antonio M. Lagdameo recently met with the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Philippines (APPG-PH) to discuss opportunities to further strengthen Philippine-British ties. The meeting was conducted upon the invitation of APPG-PH Chair Sir David Ames MP.
The APPGs are informal cross-party groups that are run by the members of the House of Lords and House of Commons.
“These are interesting times for Philippine-British relations,” said Ambassador Lagdameo. “By collaborating closely with each other and by nourishing Philippine-British ties, we will be able to seize various opportunities that both countries can significantly benefit from.”
During the meeting, the Ambassador and the APPG-PH members discussed possible activities to strengthen the ties between the two countries on various aspects. The parties noted the successful reciprocal visit conducted last year by an official delegation from the Senate of the Philippines led by Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III.
The members of the APPG-PH expressed their desire to conduct more regular and frequent parliamentary exchanges between the Philippines and the UK.
The Ambassador, who was accompanied by Philippine Embassy Political Officer Kristine Leilani R. Salle, also updated the APPG-PH members on the latest developments on Philippine-British bilateral issues and other issues of mutual concern. END
