04 November 2016 – Philippine Ambassador to the Court of St James Evan P. Garcia made an introductory call on Parliamentary Undersecretary of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Minister for Asia and Pacific Mr. Alok Sharma MP on November 03.

Both discussed the excellent cooperation between the Philippines and the United Kingdom, and Minister Shorma particularly reiterated the continued growing engagement of the UK with the Asia-Pacific region, including the Philippines. Minister Sharma hopes to make frequent visits to the region starting next year.

Ambassador Garcia, meanwhile, stated that the Philipines will become chair of ASEAN next year, which also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the association. He expressed the hope of working with the UK to broaden engagement in areas where both sides can further strengthen their cooperation, particularly in the fields of infrastructure, education, services and standards.
