The Philippine Embassy in London shone the spotlight on the food stories and recipes of renowned Filipino chef- restaurateur, artist and writer Claude Tayag at the recent “Tales and Tastes Around the Filipino Table – An Afternoon with Chef Claude Tayag” at Kasa and Kin restaurant in London, United Kingdom.

An insightful talk by Chef Claude on Filipino food culture kicked off the afternoon, followed by the London launch of his book, ”The Ultimate Filipino Adobo – Stories + Recipes from the Heart.”

In keeping with the theme of Chef Claude’s heartfelt and nostalgic stories, Ambassador Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr.  pointed out in his opening remarks that the secret ingredient in all Filipino dishes is love -- love for our country, love for our traditions, and love for sharing a good meal with friends and family.

The guests, comprised of ASEAN Ambassadors and High Commissioners and other officials of ASEAN Missions in London, other members of the diplomatic corps, British food personalities, bloggers and lifestyle writers and some members of the Filipino community, were treated to a variety of delectable Filipino food during the event.

Among the Filipino dishes featured were  adobong pusit pansit, sinigang na hipon, okoy, BenCab’s grilled chicken adobo, Glenda Barretto’s crispy adobo flakes and Chef Claude’s adobo rillette & adobo skin chicharon. Suman sa latik, ube and mango ice cream and calamansi juice were also served.

Among those in attendance were ASEAN Heads of Mission and members of the ASEAN London Committee, other members of the diplomatic corps in London, food bloggers and writers, and other culinary enthusiasts.
