Asian Art in London will be featuring four Filipino artists at an upcoming art exhibition at Gallery 8, St James, London on 4 November 2014.

The exhibition, titled Southeast Asia and Diaspora: Breaking and Reconstructing the Circle, will focus on diaspora and its impact on artists from Southeast Asia. It is one of the highlights of Asian Art in London which will run from 28 October to 8 November 2014.

Manila-based artist Andres Barroquinto is joining the exhibition for the second time. In 2013, he presented his work during Art Fair Philippines in London. He previously exhibited plenty of his works around the Philippines including at the Ayala Museum in Makati.

Renato Orara, a New York-based artist is also exhibiting his work at the event. He held several solo exhibitions in New York and Paris over the last few years, most notable of which is his solo exhibition at Josée Bienvenu Gallery in New York.

Mark Lewis Higgins was born to an Irish-English father and a Chinese-Filipina mother. He studied Fine Art in Canada and Fashion Design in New York. While Higgins specialises in painting, his other artistic interests include textile and costume design. He has previously exhibited his work at the Yuchengco Museum in Manila and at Harvard University in Cambridge, USA. He is currently the co-director of SLIM's Fashion and Art School in Manila. In 2004, he started the development of his "Diaspora" series, the topic of which the exhibit focuses on.

Joining Barroquinto, Orara and Higgins is Australian-based artist Mark Valenzuela who has been active in the Manila art scene hosting various solo exhibitions. He was shortlisted for the Ateneo Arts Award in 2008 and 2012, one of the most prestigious awards for young artists in the Philippines.

Alongside the four Filipino artists are seven other artists from Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Asian Art in London is an annual celebration of Asian fine art and antiquities. This year will mark the third time Singapore gallery One East Asia has been involved in the event. The exhibition also coincides with SEA ArtsFest, the first Southeast Asian arts festival in the United Kingdom. Established in 2013, the event supports and highlights the work of artists from Southeast Asia and those inspired by Southeast Asia. It brings together artists, practitioners, makers and thinkers to increase awareness of Southeast Asian art.

Ambassador Enrique A. Manalo will join the Filipino artists and their supporters as they promote Filipino visual arts at the prestigious event.
