 CaptureWhether the Weather is Fine (Kun Maupay Man It Panahon)” director Carlo Francisco Manatad bagged the Best Director award at the recently concluded London East Asia Film Festival (LEAFF).

The jury was chaired by Nick James, former editor of Sight & Sound, a British monthly film magazine published by British Film Institute (BFI). Other jurors were Hannah McGill, former artistic director of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and Damon Wise, BFI Festival advisor.

Director Manatad, the youngest director with an entry to this year’s LEAFF, accepted his award via a video message.

Set against the backdrop of Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, “Whether the Weather is Fine” was one of 33 films that participated in this year’s LEAFF and stars Daniel Padilla, Charo Santos-Concio and Rans Rifol.
