The Philippine Embassy in the UK is delighted to announce the UK premiere of the Filipino film Whether the Weather is Fine (Kun Maupay Man It Panahon), as one of the participating films in this year’s London East Asia Film Festival (LEAFF).
Whether the Weather is Fine, starring Daniel Padilla, Charo Santos-Concio and Rans Rifol, is set against the backdrop of Typhoon Haiyan and is a personal story with a surreal edge from talented director Carlo Francisco Manatad, in his feature directorial debut.
Miguel (Daniel Padilla) emerges from the detritus of the storm searching for his mother Norma (Charo Santos-Concio) and girlfriend Andrea (Rans Rifol). When he finds them, Miguel suggests they leave, but Norma wants to find her estranged husband, while Andrea has other concerns.
The visually stunning film’s poignant message of community spirit is profoundly relevant to the modern world, after having spent so much time torn apart and particularly with reference to the climate crisis.
The UK premiere of Whether the Weather is Fine takes place at the Chiswick Cinema (W4 1SH) on Thursday, 28th of October at 18:30.
