The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) University of London will be offering summer online classes for Filipino 1 and 3 (Tagalog) classes starting April and ending in June 2020.

SOAS will use COLLABORATE as an online platform as well as various interactive conversational tools.

New Filipino 1 students will receive a free digital textbook (a complete course covering Filipino 1-4). For returning Filipino 3 students, Part 3 of the same textbook will be completed.

The classes provide a thorough introduction to Filipino (Tagalog), covering the four key skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, and offering a good balance between communicative activities, structure practice and grammar. The classes will help students develop an understanding of the main standard features of pronunciation, how to read and write and to build up basic knowledge about the Filipino language as well as basic awareness of Philippine culture and society.

Filipino (Tagalog) Beginners 1 classes will be on Thursdays from 19:00-21:00 for 10 weeks from 23 April – 25 June 2020. Filipino (Tagalog) Beginners 3 classes will be on Tuesdays from 19:00-21:00 for 10 weeks from 21 April – 23 June 2020.
